Prison Outreach

Prison Outreach programs focus on life skills and self care. These programs enable youth to gain skills to improve their chances of transitioning into society when leaving prison. Many of us take for granted the simple things such as a home cooked meal or sitting around a kitchen table sharing a meal. This is foreign to many young people in prison. Through our cooking program we teach the clients to cook nutritious and affordable meals. Each client participates in setting the tables and invites staff to share a meal which they have helped prepare. Everyone also needs to share something they are thankful for. This enables unity within their community and teaches the clients the importance of serving others, showing respect and gratitude to staff. We also have self care days which focus on respecting and loving oneself.
